Complete transportation modeling in programs including Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS+, Tru-Traffic, Aimsun, and Vissim. Perform traffic studies and analyze traffic data such as turningmovement counts, vehicle class counts, pedestrian/bike counts, vehicle queuing, peak hour factor, and heavy vehicle percentage. Analyze crash data and suggest countermeasures.Calibrate and validate traffic simulation models by fine-tuning parameters such as traffic volumes, lane changing behavior, green light reaction times, acceleration, and breaking behavior in the model and simulate real-time traffic conditions. Visualize traffic data using programs including Google Earth, ArcGIS, Tableau. Conduct signal re-timing for multiple corridors forNYCDOT and Port Authority NYNJ. Perform level of service, delay, and traffic signal warrant analyses. Conduct speed and delay studies. Conduct field surveys to collect, compute andcompile traffic data as needed for the traffic studies/analyses. Draft drawings in AutoCAD/MicroStation for roadway improvement projects. Provide evacuation planning services for private utility companies, and City and County emergency management offices. Prepare evacuation time estimate (ETE) analysis for nuclear and wildfire emergencies pursuant to federal, state, and local regulations, including: Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Appendix E to Part 50, Emergency Planning and Preparedness for Producing and Utilization Facilities; NUREG/CR-7002, Revision 1 Criteria for Development of Evacuation Time Estimate Studies; NUREG 0654/FEMA REP 1, Criteria for Preparation and Evaluation of Radiological Emergency Response Plans and Preparedness in Support of Nuclear Power Plants; The California Legislature Senate Bill 901. Provide statistical analyses to estimate evacuating vehicles and their trip generation rates. Build computerized models of the roadway system, including all roadway and traffic signal characteristics. Measure the effectiveness of different state-of-the-art evacuation techniques such as contraflow, traffic control, and limiting the number of evacuation vehicles. Document research, analysis, assumptions, methodology, and results in atechnical report.
Domestic travel required 10% of the time, predominantly in the New York City area.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; plus 2 years of Traffic Engineering or related experience. Additionally, position requires 2 years of experience in all of the following: i) data analysis; ii) traffic simulation model development; iii) technical report writing; iv) statistical analysis; and v) AutoCAD.
Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; plus any amount of work, educational, or internship experience with all of the following: i) data analysis; ii) traffic simulation model development; iii) technical report writing; iv) statistical analysis; and v) AutoCAD.
