Apply the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) and the City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR) for various traffic engineering projects. Handle intersection and corridor operational analyses, evaluate existing traffic signal timing operations, development, implementation and fine-tuning of optimized traffic signal timings. Compile large traffic datasets, perform analysis and evaluate trends. Conduct field data collection for traffic operations. Prepare technical reports, papers, presentations and other traffic engineering documentation. Develop customized microscopic traffic simulation models using Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to conduct advanced researches on connected and automated vehicles and its security. Perform literature review on ITS Architecture and background references and develop ITS Architecture document for agencies. Apply professional tools including Syncro/SimTraffic, Aimsun, TransModeler and Vissim to conduct traffic analyses for traffic engineering projects that conform to Traffic Engineering and ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) principles and standards. Perform configuration, deployment and operations of adaptive traffic signal control system.
Domestic travel required up to 10%.
Requires a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Traffic Engineering, or a related field, plus 1 year of related experience. Requires 1 year of experience in the following:
1) intersection and corridor operational analyses;
2) data analysis;
3) compiling large datasets, performing analysis and evaluating trends;
4) technical report writing;
5) Syncro/SimTraffic Software Knowledge;
6) Traffic Engineering Principles.
