The City of Overland Park

Kansas

TransCore and KLD Engineering, P.C. partnered in this project to install ACDSS along 10 intersections on 135th St, a major east-west cross-city street that carries heavy traffic through the center of the city while the daily variations cannot be addressed well by conventional time of day control.

The project was completed in Feb 2016. At one critical intersection, the control system capitalizes on the advanced scripting capability of ACDSS to provide sophisticated adaptive operations for the traffic conditions. At other intersections, the system uses its internal optimization algorithms to adjust the signal timings in real time. Econolite ASC3 controllers are used in this project, while loop detectors and video detectors are used to provide the required volume and occupancy data.
